The draw for the Coppa Italia preliminaries have been made with the only real note worthy piece of news being that there can not be an Inter - Roma final again this year. Five our of the last six finals have seen the two clubs meet with the only exception being the Lazio - Sampdoria final of two seasons ago.
The Coppa Italia really isn't the same spectacle as the domestic cups of England, Spain or even Germany. For many years the final was a two game affair and alot of the time the attendances are disappointing. In recent years it seems that somebody at the Lega Calcio has taken a note out of the tried and tested format of the FA Cup and the final is now a one game shoot out whose permanent home is the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Somewhat biased if Roma or Lazio reach the final, but beggars can't be choosers.
