The Azzurinini (the U21 being the Azzurini) have not got off to a great start in the UEFA U19 European Championships being playing in France. On Sunday 18th they lost 2-0 in their opening Group B game to Portugal. As a country we used to be fairly successful at the junior tournaments, especially at u21 level, but in recent years we have struggled somewhat. It doesn't bode well for the future of the senior team if the U19 and U21 teams continue to struggle.
The u19 now have two games left in their bid the qualify for the semis. They play Croatia on Wednesday 21st and Spain on Saturday 24th.
