Fabio Grosso linked with...Birmingham City

To Italians all over the world Fabio Gross is a footballing hero and always will be. His exploits in winning Italy the World Cup in 2006 will never be forgotten. On top form he was a player to rival the best in the world in his position.

The 2006 World Cup was where he arguably reached his peak form and ever since he has been in constant decline. This decline is somewhat confirmed with Birmingham City being linked with his services. In the press they describe it as an ambitious bid. Personally I'd say it is probably the only level that Grosso can now excel at. He still has something to offer and Birmingham could be the right club to see out his career in the correct positive fashion.

Fiorentina: Jovetic out for 6 months

Fiorentina's Montenegro international, Stevan Jovetic, has been ruled out through injury for at least 6-7 months. He suffered knee ligament damage in training.

Baggio back with the Azzurri

Roberto Baggio is back. He has accepted an offer to become head of the technical sector at the FIGC (Italian football federation). This is excellent news. Baggio's reputation and admiration is second to none in Italy and this appointment will be very much welcomed. Welcome back Roby.

'German' Diego Contento confirms Italy option

Bayern Munich starlet Diego Contento, who has made appearances for Germany at youth level, shows some doubt into who he would like to represent at International level. Having been born in Germany to Neopolitan parents (hence the Christian name) he can represent either country. I suspect Italian scouts will be keeping a close eye on him over the coming season.

Giuseppe Rossi offered back to Man Utd?

It is being rumoured than Villareal may have to offer 'Pepito' Rossi back to Manchester Utd as part of the buy back clause that Utd are thought to have written in the initial transfer. Rossi has started pre-season very well and several clubs have shown strong interest, including Inter Milan.

Juventus still in for Pazzini

Juventus still want Gianpaolo Pazzini from Sampdoria and would make a definitive move should Samp fail to qualify for the Champions League group stages. This makes sense as Samp will definitely not want to let him go should they qualify for the main event.
